What is the difference between sheet metal fabrication and stamping?+
Sheet metal fabrication describes routes for making flat and formed parts. Stamping uses tooling to cut or form sheet in a press. Geometry, order quantity, repeat demand and tooling investment help determine a suitable route.
Can I order prototypes or a small batch?+
Yes—discuss your part and requested quantity with WEKO. We review a suitable route and setup for the batch. Dedicated stamping tooling has separate cost and practical quantity considerations; the quotation states the agreed scope.
What files should I send?+
Send a dimensioned drawing and revision, a formed 3D model if available, and a DXF or other flat-pattern file when applicable. Include grade, sheet thickness, quantity, finish and important assembly interfaces. We review how the flat pattern relates to the formed part.
Which thicknesses and tolerances can you manufacture?+
They depend on material, geometry, forming sequence, equipment and the feature being measured. Mark the required limits and datums on your drawing. We confirm feasibility and acceptance criteria in the quotation rather than apply a single tolerance to every part.
Can I combine formed parts with machined features?+
Share the whole component and its interfaces. We can review a route that combines forming with suitable secondary machining. Identify features that need to be controlled after forming or finishing.
How do I specify appearance and finishing?+
Identify cosmetic faces, permitted marks, grain direction, edge condition, coating type and color reference where required. Include masking areas and functional surfaces. Finish compatibility and acceptance are agreed for your material and part.
Who owns the stamping tooling?+
Request the ownership, payment, maintenance, storage, service life assumptions and transfer conditions in the quotation. These commercial terms should be agreed before tooling is released.
Can we sign an NDA first?+
Yes. Request an NDA before sharing confidential drawings. Include only the project details needed for the initial discussion, then share the technical package through the agreed channel.
